Ageing Strong, Living Well Seminar
'Ageing Strong, Living Well' a seminar exploring the keys to wellness and thriving as we age.
Ageing Strong, Living Well: The Power of Exercise for Healthy Ageing
I had the pleasure of presenting a seminar to the University of The Third Age (U3A) Port Philip titled "Ageing Strong, Living Well." in June 2024. There are U3A groups all over Melbourne and they are organised groups that provide low-cost learning opportunities for older people who might be retired to encourage them to stay active and engaged in the community.
In this seminar, I discuss the crucial role that exercise plays as we age, with a particular emphasis on resistance training. As we navigate the later stages of life, staying active and maintaining strength becomes more important than ever.
Seminar highlights:
- Exercise guidelines for improving your health - how much exercise should we be aiming for?
- Addressing barriers to engaging in exercise and concerns about ageing
- Evidence based education about common age related conditions such as osteoarthritis, low bone mineral density and low back pain.
